During the qualification only four pilots managed to qualify. The Japanese Yoshihide Muroya – the aircraft Sbach 342, the Englishman Tom Cassells – aircrafts Cap-232 the pilot from Spain Castor Fantoba - aircrafts Su-26, the Finn Sami Kontio – aircrafts Cap-232, managed to qualify for te competition.

The qualification results will be anounced only then all pilots will complete the qualification flights.

This week Riga greeted unusual guests, which came not by passenger airplanes, but by sport aircrafts. In the competition Riga FAI Elite Aerobatic Formula, which is organized by Jurgis Kairys and which takes place on 20 August, 9 pilots of the world aerobatic flying elite, and the winner will be awarded the EUR 10,000 prize.

After successful demonstrative competition, which took place last year, Latvian capital will hold the aerobatic flying competition of the highest level Riga FAI Elite Aerobatic Formula this year. Nine pilots, who represent the world aerobatic flying elite, were invited to participate in the competition. The competition approved by The World Air Sports Federation (FAI) is patronized by the Riga City Council and organized by Jurgis Kairys.
